The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Joseph Peychaud as President/Principal of Xavier Preparatory School. "Mr. Peychaud's qualifications are especially suited for this position", said Sondra Reine, President of the Xavier Prep Board of Directors. "As a former teacher and principal of Xavier Prep with many years of experience in education and administration, he will be able to provide quality leadership with a focus on Prep's unique mission and an emphasis on academic excellence. We pray God's blessing on him as he prepares to assume his new role."
Peychaud has a long history with Xavier Prep, having served as the first lay principal of Xavier Prep. He was formerly an Associate Superintendent with the Archdiocese of New Orleans for Urban Education and Federal Programs and he most recently served as a School Improvement Specialist for the Orleans Parish School Board working with federal programs supporting private schools.
"I have always and continue to embrace, communicate and elevate the core values of St. Katharine Drexel and the mission statement of the school nationally, and to the Greater New Orleans community", said Peychaud.
Peychaud is a graduate of St. Augustine High School and received a B.A. in Education/Liberal Arts from Xavier University of Louisiana. He also holds a M.A. in Urban Studies from the University of New Orleans. Mr. Peychaud is married to Rosalind Magee Peychaud.
He has extensive professional experience in administration and management in a variety of educational fields which include secondary and urban education, Federal, State, and local entitlement and externally funded programs in the public and non-public sector, marketing and public relations.
